01: This song is about the upbringing of Ollie, who was born in Camberly, on the 20th of March, 1998. The narrative of the song tells of how he somehow managed to shrug off all expectations to be a role model to his three younger siblings; his lack of regard for any authority (in particular the authority of any given education system) that somehow managed to escape his younger blood. If you search deeper into the track, you will uncover that it is truly about cognitive dissonance, about how Ollie’s behavior turned him into his siblings worst enemy, yet their greatest idol. The sporadic beat is a testament to the irregular upbringing Ollie was subject to, regularly moving schools and friends due to his fathers job as a Royal Engineer, a topic that made Ollie bristle with pride, at least until he began to open his mind an ickle bit.
02: This track tells of Ollie’s life from the age of 6 - 13, a onerous yet rewarding time in Ollie’s existence. The vocals at times are powerful and formidable, yet at times are reduced to a barely audible ring, perhaps capturing the emotion behind Ollie’s younger years? But that is for you, the listener, to judge. The beat in this song starts slow the speeds up, eventually reaching a pace that not even Ollie could keep up with. The track tells of how at the age of six Ollie moved to Germany, then after two years living there to Canada, then after a year of that to Norway for four years. This was of course unsettling for Ollie, but allowed for numerous, highly needed ‘life restarts’, or thats how I shall describe them as for lack of a better phrase.
03: This is a groundbreaking piece of music, a song that somehow has such flow and connection yet could be described as completely different piece from one minute to the next. The vocals can only be described as committed and exuberant, similar to Ollie’s habits throughout his life, which are of course the subject of the song. In Canada and Norway Ollie was involved in many organized sports, such as ice hockey, basketball and even at one point track and field (to this day he doesn’t know what he was thinking). At around the age of 13/14 Ollie took up skateboarding, an extremely dangerous pursuit but not because of the risk of injuries. Ollie himself will even admit it, skateparks are definitely no environment to grow up in, as this song stresses explicitly. This track dares to suggest that maybe, maybe ‘hanging out’ at a local skatepark from the hours of 9 am to 1 pm may have led Ollie to a few darker habits, but those who know Ollie can agree his is too stubborn to say that he regrets any of his decisions. Maybe he doesn’t, but one thing is for sure, nobody who is just a listener will ever know.
04: This song is all about what makes Ollie, well, Ollie.
